Moxxie's A-Muse-A-Palooza August Blog Hop

Hello Moxxie fans!  This month we are featuring one of our brand new collections Quite Contrary.   So dig out your garden photos and get ready because the Muses will be planting some great ideas in your creative minds for this beautiful line of papers and stickers.

The blend of muted tones is perfect for outdoor garden photo pages.   And if your thumb is not so green you can create fabulous cards and/or home decor projects.

I absolutely do not have a green thumb and although pictures of my weeds may make for a funny layout I am just not sure you guys would want to see that.  So, I chose pictures of my son and his girlfriend.  Just because they were taken indoors at Christmas time means nothing.  I think they look great with this line.  I converted them to black & white and then colorized Hailey's dress so the purple would stand out.  What do you think?

Along with the Quite Contrary line I used a strip of burlap netting, flowers, a little pink twine, a glassine bag, some purple bling, glimmer mist, kraft card stock, and Powder Puff Ink - coal miner.  I hope you like it.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

If you are familiar with the Moxxie Blog Hops then you know you can have a chance to win this brand new line.  All you have to do is leave a comment on all of the following blogs.    International fans are welcome to play along if they agree to pay shipping in the event they win.  Comments can be made until Midnight Tuesday, August 6th and the winner will be announced on the Moxxie Blog on Wednesday, August 7th! Enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed my card and thanks for popping in today.  Enjoy the hop!

Storage Ideas

You know I love organizing just about everything.  This time I have figured out a great way to store my washi tape.

These containers are readily available and super cheap.  What more could you ask for?  I like to be able to pick up the roll of tape and tear off the size piece that I want.  If it is on a dowel or something like that you have to take all of the other rolls to get to the one you want.  I hate that don't you?  I can't believe I have had  these in other places in my home and I am just now thinking of this.  Wow!  What is wrong with me?  LOL   If you would like to see more fun organizational ideas head over to the Practical Scrappers blog.  There are some great ideas from the design team.

Until next time,
Michelle

Moxxie A-Muse-A-Palooza July Blog Hop

Hi Everyone,

Guess what day is today?  Yes, that is correct.  It is the first Friday of the month and that means it is Moxxie Blog Hop time.  This month we are going to shake things up just a bit!  Design Team Member Mary Pat Siehl has created another sketch for you and each Muse will show you their take on the sketch.  The Muses will be using all different Moxxie collections.  It is going to be so fun to see what collections the Muses are using and to see how each one interprets the sketch.

So let's get us started with the sketch!  This sketch is very fun and lends itself to many different interpretations.
Isn't this sketch great?  I loved it.

My son and some of the kids from his school won the National History Day competition at the state level and got to move on to the National level.  The got to travel to Washington DC for a wonderful trip.

I want to document this trip for him and the Moxxie Liberty line was perfect!

The alphabet stickers and rub-ons were fun to work with and I think they added some special touches.

One of the best parts of Mary Pat's sketch was the little doo dah at the bottom.  I love that sort of thing.  I used some of the patterned paper and made a fun, little "journaling" card.  I hope you liked my layout and are enjoying the hop so far.

So let's get hopping through the rest of the blogs.  Here are the Moxxie Muse's links.  Simply hop to ALL the blogs and Leave a Comment. Don't forget the final stop- The Moxxie Blog and leave a comment there.

You'll be over the moon and out of this world for this adorable collection designed for your little space cadets. Whether playing with a favorite toy, turning a shipping box into a spaceship, or watching a classic movie, pics of your little rocketman (or rocketwoman!) will go perfectly with this collection! It just doesn't get any cuter than this!

For a chance to win, hop through all ten participating blogs, check out all the spectacular creations of each Moxxie Muse, and leave a comment for each one of them. Comments close at midnight CST on Tuesday, June 11th. The winner will be announced Wednesday on the Moxxie Blog. International fans are welcome to play along if they agree to pay shipping in the event they win.

I thought this line would be perfect for a birthday party theme.  I have two boys and I would have loved to have been able to make something like this when they were little although I think there are a lot of girls out there who would love it too.

Every party needs and activity so I incorporated a drawing surface into a place mat.  Wouldn't it be fun to draw a fun space picture while you wait for presents to be opened?  This is one sheet of paper cut to 9 1/2 x 12.  I cut out the middle leaving 1 1/2 inches all around.  I used my paper trimmer for this.  Then I placed a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 printer paper on the back side to create the drawing surface.

Then I made a cupcake wrapper and used a sticker, a little bit of the patterned paper behind the sticker,  and a toothpick for a topper.  What fun!  I love these colorful straws and I think it added to the fun.

Then there is the party favor bag!  I used a brown lunch bag and created a fun topper.  So easy and it looks great.

I hope you enjoyed the party theme and that you have been inspired from all of the Muses.  You will be hopping to Rebecca's blog next.  So, let's blast off! Remember to leave your comments along the way for your chance to win the Reach for the Stars collection!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Until next time,
Michelle

Paws N Claws Mini Album

Hi everyone!  Are you ready for a really fun project?  I had so much fun making it and it really did not take me very long which is a bonus, right?

If you love mini albums like I do then you should check out the Practical Scrappers blog today.  It has a lot of altered items and mini albums featured.  Mine included!

I used Moxxie's Paws N Claws line for this and printed my pictures in black and white.  I also used a brie cheese container for the cover.

To decorate the sides of the container I used some fun decorative tape, washi tape, trendy tape...you know what I am talking about.  This is my new favorite embellishment and the grey polka dot was perfect for the round mini book cover.

I used a ribbon to secure a ring on the first page so it is easier to lift the pages from the cover.  That is Chloe!

Here are some of the inside pages.  I used the tape to secure the edges of the circles so they would stay together and accordion fold back into the cover.  The photos are all on tags that can be removed easily then placed back into the pocket on the page.

The black kitty is Ali.

The big guy is Pee Wee and the little one is Lizzie.

I hope you enjoyed the mini album/altered art project for today!

Supplies used:
Moxxie's Paws N Claws line - all pattern papers, rub-on's and stickers that are kitty related
Washi tape
White dotted swiss paper
Worldwin Treasures solid paper - Cool Mint
Bo Bunny - Licorice Double Dot paper
Quick Quotes Powder Puff Ink - Coal Miner
Corner rounder

Until next time,
Michelle

Hello all!  I can tell you that I have never had a hockey picture.  So, I decided to have fun with this line and do something not hockey related at all.

Brian snapped this adorable picture of his girlfriend, Queen last week and I loved it so much.  Plus her jacket has great colors that matched this line...well, most of it.  All the page needed was a great punch of pink to make the change from grungy hockey to cute and girly.  So, I added one of Moxxie's fabulous mini die cuts. I used the bright pink and the look automatically took a turn from masculine to feminine.  I was able to include the swirls from the sticker sheet which I love and the backs of the some of the elements from the die cut sheet.  I stamped on them with some words that best describe Queen.  I love it.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  You will be hopping over to Rebecca's blog next!

Until next time,
Michelle

I am excited to show you what I have made.  I started the digital version of Project Life by Becky Higgins this year and am really loving it.  And, I see new cards and products available for the digital and traditional versions all of the time.  It is really popular and a very nice way of scrapbooking.  The whole point of this program is to make scrapbooking easy and fast.

I wanted to show how easy it is to make some of your own Project Life journal and filler cards using this beautiful Easter line.  All of the elements for Project Life are either 4X6 or 3X4 and they fit into the page protectors.  That is the ease and beauty and of this program.  So, it makes it super fast and easy if you would like to use papers other than what come in the Project Life kits.  I like to use different elements and I really like to have papers to match the event.

I cut the pieces to size then used my corner rounder on all of the corners.  Then I added some of the die cuts and stickers to make them extra cute.  But, two of the adorable cards are just the paper and nothing else.  How easy it that?

Three of the 4X6 cards have room for photos.  I adhered the titles on the very edge so I can slip a picture in underneath.

I love to make special journal space and the above tag pulls out just for that.

I hope you are enjoying the hop.  You will be jumping to Rebecca's blog next.  Thanks so much for stopping on over today!

Until next time,
Michelle

     Michelle James
    Misty Rushlow
     Mary Pat Siehl
    Dana Tatar

I really love this line and wanted to make cards.  The colors are so nice and work beautifully for cards.  I made a set of three and I like they way they turned out.

The first card includes a pocket with the denim paper that I stitched on my sewing machine.  I added a tiny bit of the red bandana paper for the little tag then stamped onto the tag and stamped a swirl on the pocket.  I made a tag and cut three different sized flowers from the Accent Essentials Cricut Cartridge.  I love the pattern papers in this line.  The designs are small enough to show on the flowers.  Then I added the flowers to a tag and stamped a verse.  This fits into the pocket with the flowers overlapping the top of the pocket.

My second and third cards used the same swirly stamp and a few of the same matching flowers.  I love the boot paper so I used this as my "card".  It opens to the beautiful gold paisley design that I thought was perfect for the inside of the cards.

Enjoy your hop and this new Moxxie line!  You should be visiting Rebecca's blog next.

Until next time,
Michelle

Project Life - Week 4

Moving right along....here are my newest Project Life pages.  I decided that when I printed the book the inside edges of the page (closest to the middle of the book) would need to be moved away from the edge more than the other edges to account for spine of the hardbound book.  So, I went back to the previous weeks and fixed those then created these pages with the new format.  I am still unsure if the edges are going to be too close.  I am hearing from others that the actual printed image is a little larger.  I definitely experience this with my printer but I was sure that this would not be a problem from a professional printing service such as Shutterfly or Persnickity Prints.  So, I think when I go to print I should probably start with just a couple of pages, then have the book done.  Maybe I am fretting over nothing but that would be a lot of work to go back and change everything.

I thought this week my pages turned out really fun and colorful.  Thanks to the M&M's and Skittles.  So I added some other elements and did some re-coloring so everything would match.  I think it turned out nice.

Here is week 4 page 1:

And page 2

And the double page

See how I have adjusted the middle?  I think that will allow for the binding much better.

I hope you are working on your books too whether they are digi or traditional.

Until next time,
Michelle

Project Life Week 3

Well, so far so good on the keeping current with Project Life.  I know three weeks isn't very long, but I am keeping up and am quite proud of myself.  I really enjoy choosing the photos and getting everything onto the pages.  I am getting better about taking photos too although there have been a couple of times when people have had to remind me.  Hopefully it will become second nature for me soon but for now all I can say is, "Thank goodness for my cell phone camera!"  LOL.

Week three was pretty busy with Sorority, Peggy's new job and District Speech Contest so I did not have a problem of not having enough photos to include on the page. I like it that way.

Week four includes both of the boys birthdays but with Ian being away and Brian very stingy with his photos I will be lucky to be able to document any of it.  I may have to rely on girlfriends.  They are usually quite helpful.

Anyway, here is page one of week three.

And page two

And the two of them side by side as they would be in an album.

So there you have it.  My third week is done and I love it!

Until next time,
Michelle

Fun With Arrows

Today I want to share this fun layout of Brian and his car.  I used Quick Quotes My Michelle line.  I don't think it can be purchased anymore but I thought the colors were perfect for the pics.

Arrows are all the rage right now and I am joining the fun at Practical Scrappers.  Today they are featuring layouts using arrows.  Head over there and check out all of the creative, inspiring ideas the designers have come up with.  It is truly impressive.  Anyway,  here is my layout featuring Brian, his Trans-Am and a lot of arrows!

I used my Cricut with the Going Places cartridge and printed my title and journaling on vellum.  I love the way it turned out.

Be sure to click on this link to see the ideas at Practical Scrappers!

Until next time,
Michelle

Project Life Week 2

I am really having fun with this.  I enjoy making the pages too.  I love that I chose the digital version because I take my laptop to work and create during my lunch hour.  I am a half hour away from home so I need something to do...right?

Brian graced me with some photos this week.  Well, he gave me permission to take them from Facebook.  So I guess I was one of many.  Either way I am grateful for each picture I get of him.   I guess if he is with his girlfriend it is easier for him.

I had my one year anniversary at work so that was another milestone I could include this week.  I thought it would me harder to find things to scrap but I am actually finding it not so bad.  Remembering to take the photo is the hard part for me.  I am just not used to it yet.  But, I think it will get easier as the weeks go by.  Anyway, I am having such a good time.

I saw that Becky Higgins came out with about 7 new lines of Project Life.  I hope they will all become available digitally.  If you would like to see the new lines you can check them out at beckyhiggins.com.

Anyway here is week 2, page 1

Page 2

Both pages together

So what do you think?  I love it and can't wait to start next week's pages!!!!

Until next time,
Michelle

My First Project Life Week

I am really excited to start Project Life - Digital.  This is a system created by Becky Higgins to scrap more of the everyday things in life instead of just events.  I like the concept and I love the way it looks.  Some people have mentioned that it is not creative enough for them and they like the regular 12 x 12 srapping instead.  That is totally fine but I don't seem to get anything done and finished.  So, I am committing to this for the year.  If I get behind....well then I get behind.  But, I won't have to print out my pictures because they will all be digital.  This works better for me.

I purchased the Original kit from jessicasprauge.com  Then I have been downloading some freebies that I see on Pinterest.  I have even created my own 3x4 and 4x6 templates and have created a few of my own cards.  I have not included those on these pages though.  I am just creating a few for future use when I have time.  I also purchased the stitched lines to make it look like page protectors.  I think they are fun.  Those I got at designerdigitals.com

First I created a title page:

I would like to have a family picture or something on the title page so I will think about it.  I can change it anytime!

Here are my week one pages:

What do you think?  Are any of you doing Project Life?  And how long have you been working at it?  I think I am hooked!

Until next time,
Michelle

     Michelle James
    Misty Rushlow
     Mary Pat Siehl
    Dana Tatar

I had fun with this layout of Brian in Marching Band during the St. Pat's Parade in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

As well as the Musically Inclined papers I added brown swirls from the Forever Family Die Cut sheet and two of the mini die cut papers that Moxxie offers.  I think they all go well together and I even managed to match some of the greens that go along with St. Paddy's!

I hope you like my layout and all of the rest of the fabulous projects from the Muses.
Next you will hop to Rebecca's Blog.

Until next time,
Michelle
